Paint Correction
(Also known as polishing or a polish and buff)
Not only do we work with brand-new vehicles, but we also have a lot of clients who bring in their used/second-hand vehicles to apply paint protection as well! For these vehicles, we do need to provide some extra services to eliminate these so-called “swirls” or “webbing” through a process called paint correction.
Below we have some greater details explaining what services you may need as well as a few photo examples for comparison.
Stage 1 Paint Correction
$500/$600 - 6-12 hours
(Pricing based on small/large vehicles)
A stage 1 paint correction are for vehicles that have light to medium paint defects such as swirls, holograms, or webbing which is generally seen in the sun & caused by many things such as improper washing, lots of contact with the vehicle, water spotting or even using a rag improperly to clean or buff the paint
Stage 2 Paint Correction
$1200/$1400 - 12-24 hours
(Pricing based on small/large vehicles)
A stage 2 paint correction is generally recommended for vehicles that either have a lot more visible wear on the paint as well as cars of darker colours/shades such as your blacks and dark blues. Signs are generally similar to a stage 1 however are much more visible, generally caused by automatic washes, brushes & years of improper washes.
a stage 2 paint correction is also ideal for those who are achieving a showroom-like finish as it has a dedicated cutting stage to remove these defects & a polishing stage to refine the surface resulting in an extremely gloss and reflective finish.
Services included in all our Ceramic Paint Protection Packages
With all of our ceramic paint protection packages, there are a range of steps that need to be completed prior to, during & after the application of any paint protection. Below we have listed everything that is included in all of our protection pacakges.
-
Within this process, we ensure the vehicle is getting as clean as possible prior to any correction & protection processes. We start from our detailing procedure which requires no contact to remove larger dirt and debris then move into more physical for the more stubborn processes
-
Along with our procedure of detailing the vehicle exterior, we also use chemical & physical decontamination. This includes an iron fallout remover which generally turns purple indicating a buildup of iron deposits in the paint/coating which cannot be removed from conventional washing.
Tar remover is also used in the case where rubber or tar bitumen is present, dissolving and reducing the risk of any paint damage.
Physical decontamination is a final step that removes any other physical buildup on the paint which washing & chemical decontamination cannot remove. This is usually when the paint feels rough when you run your hand over it, indicating there is a buildup of residue which can be removed with a clay bar/clay mitt.
-
Our services also include a basic interior detail including a vacuum & wipe down on all surfaces providing a cleaner surface. If there are leathers, these will also be shampooed/conditioned.
Any further detailing will require out interior detail package.
-
Prior to any work on the vehicle after getting it as clean as possible, we will do a full paint inspection to see if there are any unwanted paint defects or concerns that need to be addressed. We also go through a process of measuring the paint thickness to ensure there is enough clearcoat prior to any paint correction.
On average, a new vehicle will have between 140-180 microns of paint which is a healthy amount, any lower indicates significant wear or lack of clearcoat. Any amount higher suggests a respray and can also be noticed from the visual texture called “orange peel”
-
Also known as polishing, depending on the condition of the vehicle. If it is new we offer a complimentary 3hr polish which enhances the paint gloss/clarity as well as removing any light debris or marring on the paint. This is included in all our pacakges
If it is a used vehicle we offer a dedicated paint correction procedure which can take between 6-18 hours depending on severity and size. This will have it’s own pricing quote based off vehicle & condition.
-
Once the vehicle is as clean as it can get as well as the removal of any paint defects (swirls/marring/webbing), we will apply the respective coating.
As this will be in a temperature-controlled and dust-free environment, we can ensure the quality of your coatings are applied to an extremely high standard yielding excellent results.
-
Once the coatings have all been applied. it is crucial that the vehicle is kept overnight to allow the coating to cure onto the vehicle prior to being exposed to the elements.
the first 80% will cure over 24 hours and the remainder will cure over a 2-week process in which the vehicle can be used as normal (including the rain) but cannot be washed or exposed to any chemicals.
With all vehicles, prior to departure, we will apply a sacrificial layer that further protects the paint to properly cure, providing excellent curing results & protection.
